RangeBites
RangeBites helps you find food nearby. No account. Not a reservation. Not RangeBits. You must be 13 or older.
Tap Locate Me or search any city. Listings come from OpenStreetMap (ODbL); some chain hours come from AllThePlaces store-locator data (CC0). Both can be wrong or stale. The matching method is documented in the project's public source repository (tools/build-atp-hours.py and app.js). Directions open in Apple Maps or Google Maps. Reviews open in Google Maps. We do not invent hours, star ratings, or coupons.
Location
RangeBites does not store information about you on its servers; some choices are kept only on this device. Location is used only to show nearby places and is not saved. Locate Me keeps your coordinate in memory for this search only. This device may remember saved restaurants, range, filter choices, and distance units (mi or km as text). Those stay on this device and are not sent. Filters includes Clear my saved data, which removes them from this device.
Tap the heart to save or unheart a restaurant. Hearts on this device are OpenStreetMap id, name, and address — not a GPS trail. Heart a place again to unsave it. That list stays on this device only.
To fetch restaurants, our host’s proxy sends the search to OpenStreetMap services: Overpass (run by OpenStreetMap France) and, for a city you type, Nominatim (run by the OpenStreetMap Foundation). With Locate Me, that search includes your coordinates rounded to 3 decimal places, which still places you within about 100 m. Our host sees the search and your IP address; the Overpass and Nominatim servers receive the request from our host, not from your device. Map images come from tile.openstreetmap.de (FOSSGIS e.V.), which sees your IP and the map area you view.
RangeBites is a free site that tracks nobody. It does not use device codes, analytics identifiers, visitor tracking, or third-party analytics or trackers. It does not log page views or taps. RangeBites does not create or store a device identifier. A city search or Locate Me is used only during that search, then dropped.
Contact & accessibility
Questions, corrections, accessibility problems, or legal notices: RangeBites (rangebites.com), contact: rangebites@agentmail.to. We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 AA. If something doesn’t work for you, tell us at that address.
Promo text
Promo text appears only if the listing already mentions a promo (e.g. description/note). We do not invent coupons. Copy listing text and confirm with the restaurant. It is not a live coupon feed and not a promise it will work at the register.
Operator
RangeBites is designed, published, and operated by an individual website developer in Virginia, USA (the “Operator”), not a restaurant. Use of RangeBites is subject to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, discontinue use.
